Art Singapore is being held in Singapore annually in October ever since the mid 2000s and is seen as the event to be in if you are dabbling with anything is related to art.

But personally, when compared with art shows in other places, I think art Singapore is not really significant.I see art Singapore as really just an art show that is being held in Singapore. My first thought about art Singapore is that it should focus on Singapore art and if Singapore is too small, perhaps art in South East Asia.

However, folks that have been to this Art Singapore event would know that that is not the case. You can even say that this is very much like a trade show that brings with it many vendors that are trying to sell their art works and other various pieces of art. I guess this is not unique to art Singapore but seriously, doing so loses the meaning of art.

I was just thinking about this and thought that maybe Art Hong Kong or any other art shows might have the same problem of becoming an investment instead of a true blue art event. But having being in Singapore and witnessing the event, I guess the problem seems so much more obvious to me.

I guess artist themselves needed to make a living and to get them to just display their art pieces would not be possible for them to sustain their lifestyle. But, shouldn’t art be something that should be appreciated.

Lets take the last art singapore show as an example, instead of art appreciation talk, you have art investment talk. And people that goes there, seems to look for art as a tool that would grow their wealth instead of their understanding of art.

The last point I have about art singapore is the lack of exposure for local artist. Can you imagine an event that is billed as art Singapore but not showcasing much of singapore artist work?

Andrew Sinclair was Born in 1961 in Poole, Dorset, he finished a Fine art foundation course in Bournemouth & Poole College of Art and then went on to study in other areas of art. He took on the role as a studio manager in moulding and casting which developed into him receiving commissions for a number of pieces that revealed the talent and versatility of this brilliant sculptor.

Andrew Sinclair is the driving force and guide behind his very successful Chiltern sited Ridgeway Sculpture Design Studio, which has created some fantastic works of art. And is frequently being used by individuals that want work that is 2nd to none in quality and craftsmanship knowing that any artistic brief that is created by Andrew Sinclair and his team will be brilliant.

Andrew Sinclair ARBS has a massive amount of skill that he brings to bare when a new creative project is brought in front of him. Andrew Sinclair has a commited and personal approach to his constantly increasing list of top end clientele and his understanding and interpretation of the creative briefs makes sure that the clients are always happy. Having such discerning clients has ensured that Andrew has been given the chance to build some amazing and well known works.

Andrew Sinclair’s sculptures can be seen in country homes, on city desks, ocean liners and in municipal spaces. Each of these sculptures whether they be a Portrait Sculpture of Winston Churchill, a Figurative Sculpture of Liberty or a surrealist sculpture of Moodius Centuarus have such movement to them that Andrew Sinclair must be applauded for his talents.

His team of moulders and casters makes sure that every brief that comes into Ridgeway Studio is lovingly coaxed into life using the vast bank of their gathered knowledge to make sure the sculpture goes according to plan. Andrew Sinclair’s team also work with other sculptors producing their works to the highest of standards with a complete service for resin bronze, marble resin, metal effect and stone effect casts.

There are an amazing number of patinations that can be brought out on the sculptures, and the team have massive amounts of experience getting just the right effect to each particular piece. Many sculptors also find it beneficial working with Ridgeway Studio for the extra services of armature supply and enlargement work. Andrew Sinclair produces some amazing works to this date, I look forward to seeing what marvellous pieces he works to life in the months ahead.

In this age where valuable free time is so precious, where do we find relaxation, peace or solitude from the busy life of today with all it’s trials and tribulations. People use their time in different ways but I am convinced that many opt for some sort of peace and tranquility.

As a contemporary artist that enjoys nature, I often head to the country to admire the beautiful landscapes, mountains, trees, lakes, flowers, birds etc. The effect they have on me is relaxing. The rare beauty of this awakens my emotions. Often I capture these moments on camera, so that the memory remains with me.

The colours in the country are inspiring – either in winter or summer. I enjoy the starkness of winter when the trees are stripped bare, the first snows and naturally the pattern that frost makes, whether on the window panes, cars,etc…. Possibly the colours are at their Sunday best in the autumn.

Fascinating too are the tumbling leaves and falling twigs as they appear to dance like an Autumn Concerto. The reds, browns, golden yellow and the leaves partly disintegrated are quite something together with the conkers falling at your feet.

I have spent some time in County Kerry where the scenes are naturally rugged which is fascinating to the eye of a contemporary painter. If you head onward towards Dingle the natural movement of the waterfalls at Muckross Pass takes your breath away. The early morning mists too are something to behold.

Many things capture peoples emotions, personally I am quite happy to browse along a deserted beach at any season of the year. Observe the birds, watch the sun refecting on the water, or the movement of the tide as it comes in and moves out. Or see children playing, running in and out of the water, building sandcastles, or dogs roaming free off the leash. One thing is for sure, possibly one of the finest things to capture is the early morning sunrise or the evening sunset in all their glory. This is beauty at it’s finest.

Spring too, is an interesting season when you see the first gentle buds appearing on trees, hedges and bushes. Snowdrops and tender Celandiles pushing their way up through the ground.
Easter onward towards May brings the amazing array of nodding Bluebells which are abound in many of our local woods and forests mingling amongst the Buttercups and Ferns.

Then we are into the colourful blaze of summer. At that time the trees are ready to be adored. Flowers are in full bloom creating magical displays which warm our spirits. Hues and patches of tender tones which warm the soul, to very bright and passionate colours which knock our socks off.

Skylines too are inspiring. The cloud formations are always wonderful with their delicate and also very strong tints. Red skies are beautiful, relating to you that the next day is going to be golden.

Is it any surprise then people enjoy painting Landscapes? You get all the inspiration you could possibly need. As you can see you are surrounded by subjects. Whether you capture them on camera first, or do them from memory. Pick up you pencil and seize the day!
