Moving to College by Using Self Pack Moving Companies

Filed under: College — tkwriter @ 9:29 am

For many, relocating away to school and out of the parents home for the first time can be stressful and difficult. One way to make it easier and more affordable is to find the ideal moving option for you. What’s right for one student is not right for all. It depends on how many things you own, if you’re relocating into a dorm room or an apartment, and how far away the school is that you’re relocating to. These aspects can help you decide what choice is right for you.

First, let’s look at an choice that is perfect if you’re lucky enough to relocate into an apartment. If you’re relocating into an apartment near your school campus and you’re relatively close to your school campus already, then a truck rental service should be ideal for your needs. This service can offer a vehicle capable of storing more things that you’ll need for your larger space of an apartment. With this service, you do everything. You pack your belongings, load, drive to the new home, and unload your possessions.

The next choice is good for someone that currently resides a long distance from the school or more than about a five hour drive. One of the many self pack moving companies are ideal for this situation because it’s much simpler. When you’re traveling long distance, especially long enough where you would rather fly instead of drive, this is an easy and affordable way to have your things arrive at your new home when you do. With this service, you pack your own belongings, then the service loads everything in the vehicle, and then they make the long drive to the school. This is a great idea especially when traveling cross country to relocate to school. It’s difficult enough to prepare for your school life without having to coordinate a drive and the cost of a cross country self relocating service. These services are certainly more expensive than the previous choice, but they are well worth it. As with any service, watch for added and hidden charges before you get into any contract. This will protect you in case the company attempts to charge you added fees or surcharges.

Finally, the last choice is a moving van rental service. This is like a truck rental, however the vehicle has a smaller area for storage of things. It’s great if you’re relocating into a dorm room where you have a limited amount of space. As with the first service, you do everything. You pack, load, drive, and unload into your dorm room.

In conclusion, the moving method you hire should reflect your needs when relocating to school. Remember to always read the fine print before signing any contract. Also, make sure you shop around so you get the perfect deal.

Self Pack Moving Companies: Saving Money on Your Relocation

Filed under: College — tkwriter @ 8:20 am

Every year across the globe there are thousands if not millions of children preparing to move out of their home for the first time for college. These children have just finished four years of high school and 17-19 years of living at home with their parents, and they are ready for new experiences. There is a lot that can be daunting about relocating out of home for the first time, for example needing a job to pay for bills, maintaining your own living space, etiquette for having friends over and many other things.

Another item that can be stressful for relocating out of home the first time is planning the logistics for the actual relocation. Fortunately for those looking to relocate out of home, there are multiple options at their disposal. Kids looking to relocate can choose from either: truck rental, moving van rental or assistance from self pack moving companies. In order to determine which of these services to use, it is vital to first estimate how much area you will need based on the items you are moving. Common items to consider for the relocation are beds, bureaus, small refrigerators, televisions, electronics and the volume of clothing that is being relocated.

Once you have figured out how many items will be relocated, you can make your selection of a moving vehicle. Renting a moving truck is most common for those looking to move multiple items of big furniture, and there are multiple companies offering this service at different prices. When packing things to load into the moving truck, care should be taken to wrap the edges of furniture so that they do not break something else loaded in the truck. A moving van rental can be used for smaller volumes such as only a bed, television and other electronic equipment. The moving vans are also simpler to navigate than moving trucks, especially for colleges that are in downtown areas such as any of the major Boston schools. The other item to consider other than area needed is the price you will pay for these moving services. Some self pack moving companies will only charge you for the physical area that is utilized in their trucks or vans, whereas renting a full truck or van from other companies will come with a flat rate charge.

Finally, children should visit their new home once before the moving truck or van to see what the parking situation is, how far of a walk to their dorm from the truck they have, and read about the optimal times to make the moves in order to hopefully avoiding the rush of other students moving as well. Students relocating out of home will see a lot of challenges in the time after the relocation. It is vital for these children to learn self-sufficiency and best practices for saving money. Both of these key lessons will serve them well as they progress through college into the working world. A good first step is to properly research, plan for and execute the relocation from home into their school by selecting a solid moving service.

Moving out of home should not have to be a hassle but it can be if you do not plan for it appropriately. It is recommended that children relocating out of home talk to others who have already relocated and read articles on the Internet about hints for relocating before doing anything to save time on moving day.

The Importance Of A Bachelor Degree Online Program

Filed under: College — tkwriter @ 7:07 pm

With more people getting online, more students considering a degree are inquiring about a bachelor degree online program. Such an education seems to sift the traditional schooling method, minus the captive class hours, commuting hassles, and expenses. What’s left is pure education at one’s pace.

The question is, can you just take up any bachelor’s online degree program from any educational institution out there? Or perhaps it remains a wise decision to take one offered by the distinguished schools?

Attending Yale or Harvard could have you seeing your parents’ and your savings, while you hold on to the dream that the sacrifice will pay off with a job that gives you a fat check plus benefits. All because you got your degree from a revered institution.

Some point out that that promise is holds out for a few. No, taking up and finishing a bachelor degree online program from the top universities might not end up granting you that high paying job of your dreams. This says a fellow at the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. These expensive schools, the researcher continues, only sells the prestige associated with their school through the bachelor degree online program.

This research revealed that those who end up with good jobs do so not as a result of the schools they attended, but simply because they were smart and diligent to begin with. They use what they imbibed from class and from books.

Bottom-line: if you’re smart enough to get accepted in the top schools, and emerge learned and wiser from their courses, you can do anything in life.

The question is…is it worth the worry and the preparation to get accepted into these schools? Or will earning a bachelor degree online program from an accredited university be just as good? You have to look at your lifestyle and where you’re at. When you’re thinking of getting a bachelor degree online program, there must be some reason why regular classes are not for you. A part-time job or two maybe? Point is, instead of looking up to the top schools even for online degrees, there are other schools to consider where you can get your degree.

What you need to find, and that’s what the Internet and your friends are for, is to find an accredited university offering a bachelor degree online program; one that squares right into your budget and your lifestyle. The top universities will always have the advantage should you attend school the normal way–the high expectations, the contact with fellow learners and inspiring teachers.

Another important point to mention here is that some online degree programs are, in a way, a bit superior to other online degree programs. Although if an online degree is accredited, it should be good enough, however, you will find some discrimination between various online degree programs. So choose the best one for you in the lights of your career goals and objectives.

Top Ways To Complete College As Quick As Possible

Filed under: College — tkwriter @ 7:16 am

Not everyone wants to spend four years in college or university. Some people either by choice or necessity need to finish their college degree as fast as possible and start working to bring in money. That obviously is not the case for all people of course and nor should it be. Those who can afford it and desire to enjoy their college’s years should by all means do so if they choose.

But for those who are watching every penny or who are paying for your own education the sooner you graduate the sooner you can start making money with a new job. How do you go about graduating from college quicker? One option is to complete CLEP exams accepted by colleges as credit. CLEP stands for College-Level Examination Program® and gives people an opportunity to receive college credit from material already understood or known by the person if they successfully complete one of several different exams.

This means you can test out some courses faster by passing the exam. The more of these you do, the less classes you have to pay for (save you money) and the faster you can graduate (do not need to spend a semester in each class).

Now each university is different and may or may not accept CLEP tests as credit for a college course. Therefore you should check to makesure first of all if your college accepts CLEP and then see which classes you may be able to test out of and not need to complete.

Here are a handfull of examples of CLEP Exam areas:

  • Introductory Sociology
  • American Literature
  • Introductory Psychology
  • Biology
  • English Composition
  • College Mathematics
  • Humanities

It may be assumed that someone who is going to take a CLEP test already has a good or decent understanding of the material the test will cover. That does not mean however that person should sit for the test without preparing. It would be very wise to prepare. For preparation it would also be smart to purchase some decent CLEP study guides to help you in getting ready to take the exam.

Therefore keep in mind while doing a college search that when you speak with a counselor to ask about using CLEP to test out of some courses. If it is possible then you may want to take advantage of it. This could knock off several classess for you.

Online College Accreditation: Ways To Tell The Real From Phonies

Filed under: College — tkwriter @ 12:50 am

The Internet has recently brought forth a new kind of university, one without a geographical center. These colleges offer an education through online lectures, discussions, and assignments.

They are a good option for people without the time and money to spend four years at a college site, but can also turn out to be scams. Before enrolling in an online college, you need to determine whether it is accredited.

The Accreditation Factor

If a school has been accredited, that means it has been reviewed and certified to teach an academic program and hand out degrees.

If a school is not accredited, it can claim to teach all they like, but you will never receive a real diploma from them. Accreditation ensures that schools are providing a high quality education and a somewhat consistent curriculum for each subject core.

The Claims of Many

There are many schools claiming to be accredited, but accreditation doesn’t mean anything if it comes from a non-recognized organization.

Any organization stating they are accredited by the IAAOU (International Accreditation Agency for Online Universities), Board of Online Universities (BOUA), World Online Education Accrediting Commission (WOEA), and UCOEA (Universal Council for Online Education Accreditation), are not real universities and will not offer a quality education. Hint: no real accrediting organization has the word “online” in its title.

These so-called “online universities” that claim accreditation from such sources will, at best, provide you a poor education that few respect.

At worst, they will simply sell you a fake diploma. It is illegal in many states to claim you have a degree if all you really own is a diploma from one of these schools.

Authentic Options

There are real online schools, but legitimate ones are the in the minority. To be a valid, recognized university in the United States, a school must be accredited by an organization that has itself been recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), or both.

There are five main regional accreditors and many smaller organizations recognized by CHEA and USDE. These organizations have lists on their web sites.

Perception is Important

An online education is not as well respected as attending a physical university with a college campus, but it can be a great option for self-motivated people who need to earn a degree more quickly while they move forward with their lives.

It is not such a good idea to jump into an online education straight out of high school, but is very helpful for those already employed and who want to give their careers a little boost by finally earning that coveted degree.

Make sure the online school you are considering is accredited from a respected institution that has been approved by the CHEA or the USDE. They authenticate the only real schools online that count!

Moving Van Rental is Another Choice when Relocating to College for the First Time

Filed under: College — tkwriter @ 5:48 pm

Congratulations, you’ve decided to join the growing group of students choosing to advance their education by going to college. You’ve made a wise decision, however, making that decision is the simple part. You will definitely see many challenges as you move on to your college years, and the first of those challenges that you will be faced with is how to efficiently move your personal belongings from your parent’s house to your new home.

Most incoming freshman to colleges nationwide decide to stay in a typical college dorm room for their first year, and if you’re in the majority then you have some special relocation challenges that you’ll have to handle. Dorm rooms are tiny, and the hallways and stairwells are even smaller. They present quite a challenge when moving large objects such as a couch or desk. Before you start to pack up your things from your parent’s house however, you must make another decision. That decision is what type of relocation service you want to use so your personal belongings show up at your college unharmed and intact.

There are several options you have when relocating to a college that is far away from your home. One option is truck rental. This will be a cheaper option and can even be enjoyable. If you have your family to help you do some of the work, then you can use this service. You will rent a truck that is big enough for your amount of things for pretty cheap. Then, you’ll put in your things, drive to the college, and unload your things into your dorm room. This can be a lot of work but it will save you a lot of cash and be good exercise!

If you’re not able to do as much physical labor or just don’t care to, self pack moving companies can do more of the work for you. Self pack moving companies can offer an option that works for many people that need to relocate long distances from their home or need more help with the physical labor of relocation. This option is more costly, but many people like the service and their backs do too! With this service, you put your belongings into boxes and get them ready, and then the service loads, transports, and unloads your things into your new place.

If the truck rental service is more attractive to you, but you don’t feel like you need that much room and don’t have as many things, then moving van rental might be right for your needs. This service is even cheaper and should suit your needs if you have a limited amount of things. Remember you still need to load your things with this service so be ready to get a workout.

No matter what service you end up choosing, as long as you get your things safely and securely to college then you’ve done the job right. This should be the smallest challenge that you will face at college. Be prepared, because starting your classes and making the grade are even harder. But remember, challenge can be the perfect fuel for motivation. Good luck!

College Student: Considering a Moving Van Rental

Filed under: College — tkwriter @ 10:35 pm

For young adults moving out for the first time, the thought of it all can be very overwhelming. Often these students are faced with questions such as, “What do I do with all of my belongings?” “How do I get my things to my new school?” or “Which companies can I trust with all of my things?”. Some students are lucky enough to have family there to aid them. However, those who don’t shouldn’t feel overwhelmed. Following are a few great tips that can keep you going good.

First of all, you’ll need to decide what the best way for you to relocate is. There are several options to choose from and finding the best will force you to think about a number of different factors. For example, if you are relocating to a school that is in the same area you currently live in, or very close, you might consider a moving van rental. These are usually best suited for folks who don’t have a long way to relocate. You will be responsible for packaging all of your belongings yourself, loading the truck, driving it to your destination and unloading it. Of course if you do need aid with any of these aspects you can also elect to hire additional movers or even a driver for the truck.

Another option is a truck rental. This is for people who don’t have a lot of belongings. If you’re relocating into a dorm that provides a desk and bed it’s likely that all you’ll need is some clothing, toiletries and keepsakes from home. In this case, simply renting a truck might be both easier for you to handle and more economical.

For those who are relocating over state lines and are taking quite a bit with them, self pack moving companies are a great option. The concept is an easy one. First, the company will deliver a pod to your house. This will be secured and covered to be safe from the weather. You’ll then simply put your belongings into the pod. When you’re finished, the moving company will pick it up and deliver it to your new place. You’ll then be responsible for taking everything out of it and letting the moving company know when you’re finished with their pod and they can pick it up.

Any of these options are great options. It simply depends on how far you’re relocating, how much stuff you’re taking with you and the budget that you have available.

What Is The Importance Of Taking An Accelerated College Degree Online?

Filed under: College — tkwriter @ 4:09 pm

Have you ever been passed over for a promotion just because you have no college diploma? Have your skills and years of experience been disregarded by prospective employees because you were not able to finish college?

Without a college education, there will come a time when you will reach a dead-end in your career path. However, going back to college presents too many hassles, especially if you are already very busy working full-time. You can take evening classes, but that will greatly reduce the amount of time you can spend with your family and you will end up deadbeat at the end of every single day. Furthermore, getting a college degree these days is very expensive.

Interestingly, a lot of adults are genuinely interested in going back to college but they are usually held back by dozens of logistical and financial obstacles. With the advent of the Internet, more adults can now get a college diploma without having to commute to the university. You can keep your job and spend time with your family while gradually working towards the degree of your choice.

There are several different ways of getting a degree online, and these can be classified into four main groups.

Payment-based degrees

Many unscrupulous online businessmen take advantage of people’s desire to get an accelerated college degree online by offering diplomas without really paying much attention to your progress with the course lessons. As long as you pay for the tuition, they are willing to grant you your degree. Although many people do use these services to get an instant degree, they may get into trouble if a potential employer finds out.

Non-residency degrees

In traditional schools, you will typically be required to have completed a specific number of units in their institution before being able to graduate. With most online universities however, you can get credit from units that you have previously earned in other online schools or even from way back when you were still attending college. You will also be allowed to get extra credit if you have gone through military school or if you are able to pass specialized tests. You can further speed up the accomplishment of your course by showing a proficiency in relevant college courses. If you pass all these tests and submit all the necessary requirements, you can actually finish your degree in just a few months. Online companies who have these kinds of offers are not illegal, but many people doubt their efficiency as actual educational institutions.

Accelerated college degrees

These are the most popular types of online degrees these days. These institutions offer popular college 4-years courses that you can finish in just 2 years. This is done by reporting all of your previously earned units from your college years, as well as any that you may have acquired from other legitimate online schools. The annual cost is approximately the same as for traditional colleges, but since you can finish these accelerated degrees in just 2 years, you can save as much as 50%.

Work at your own pace

For busy people who are working full-time jobs, it is advisable to enroll with a program that allows you to finish your lessons at a pace that is most comfortable for you. You can take as long as you like or if you are in a hurry, you can arrange your schedule so that you will finish the course in about a year or so.

From the above discussion, it is quite clear that you can have various methods by which you can get college education. After you have decided that you want to continue your educational life, just make sure that you always choose a legal path.
