What Are The Greatest Wedding Songs For Your Particular Time?

Filed under: Music — tkwriter @ 10:57 pm

Don’t fret, there are a million of them. Just go into any record store and there are compilation cd’s that have 20 or more on them. But how did all of this start anyway? We know it didn’t start with cheap wedding favors.

The concept, (obviously), came from couples having a special song that was their song and when it came on, they would make melt into each other’s arms on the dance floor. So usually, couples already have their own special song. But if you don’t, do what I said. Go to a large, record store and buy one or two of the cd’s that will list the top wedding songs. Listen to the words as well as the music, because that is what talks about the two of you and your relationship. But be careful. Go to www.lyrics.com and check out the exact words. Many songs are about breaking up and getting back together again. That just doesn’t seem to be the best song to dedicate to your new life together! And what better way to start than with wine stopper wedding favors.

Here is a list of ten of the most used wedding songs for that first dance for the newly married couple. Nothing Compares To You – Sinead O’Connor, Close To You – Maxi Priest, Power of Love – Jennifer Rush, Love Me Tender – Elvis Presley, I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You – Elvis Presley, Just the Way You Are – Billy Joel, When You Say Nothing At All – Ronan Keating, From This Moment On – Shania Twain
9. You Made Me Love You – Al Jolson
10. How Deep Is Your Love – Bee Gees

Of course there are many, many more, but those seem to be the ones used most often. And if you want seasonal songs you can have those along with winter wedding favors.

Now, you need to move onto the songs for the Father/Daughter dance. This one is a tear jerker and there are many out there that are very popular also. Whether or not you are going to be given away by your father, a friend or a close family member, you’ll want a song that fits the situation.

The songs here are in a great range of emotion. Of course, only you can choose which one is appropriate for your special day. Butterfly Kisses, Wind Beneath My Wings, Unforgettable, Because You Loved Me, You Decorated My Life, My Girl, Through the Years, The Way You Look Tonight, My Special Angel, What A Wonderful World, You’re the Inspiration, Daughter of Mine, Hero and Isn’t She Lovely.

There are many more, but these seem to be the most popular ones. Songs can add so much to a wedding reception. Give it much thought and they will add beautiful moments to your day.

Long Forgotten History of the Guitar

Filed under: Music — tkwriter @ 10:38 am

Have you ever wondered how your treasured guitar started out? Well, truth is, it wasn’t originally invented to look exactly like what you hold in your hands today. The guitar’s ancestry runs back so far, reaching the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia.

The earliest guitar came from Iraq, but it was about two thousand years later before it made a come back. Back then, it was still known as Mesopotamia. In caves near the area, archaeologists found drawings of humans with instruments that resemble a guitar. After the development of Rome and a couple millennia later, yet another stringed instrument that was made similarly like the guitar was found in a tomb.

The version of the guitar proved to be pretty popular during the dark ages as well. During those times, there were two prominent designs that were most common, which had either a French or a German influence. One was softer in appearance, with a round belly and a stout neck for the frets and of course a sound hole. The other was geometric, and straight-edged. These two designs were found in a few church ruins and tombs in England. Most people believe that these were actually influenced by the string instruments brought in by the Moors to Europe in the early 8th century.

Since Spain was one of the first places that the Moors invaded, it is only natural that Spain was the epicenter for the development of the guitar. The Vihuela was the first guitar model to become popular, at that time it had twelve frets. So that everyone could play it, tabs were then written to make playing easier. Similar to the lute, the guitar was chosen to be played during the resistance. If you look at it closely, these past actions reflect largely to how the guitar is projected in present times.

The guitar became even more popular in the 17th and 18th century, this was mainly because of Louis XIV. Learning the art of guitar playing became a fad among the European elite. About a century later, we see that the guitar has evolved into the same kind of guitar we see on every street corner and stage today. This became so popular that it spread to America, followed of course by everyone else.

People have come to appreciate the guitar at present. Self-expression through the guitar became a huge fad. People started idolizing and recognizing talented guitarists; music played through the guitar was the new in thing. As the clamor for more guitar music increased, so did the musicians’ thirst for bigger, better and bolder guitars became. As a result, the guitar industry developed something called the electric guitar. Be it country, folk or rock, guitars are the number one choice for anyone starting a career in music.

Guitars and their guitarists have shared a great history together, knowing no cultural boundaries. It is still one of the primary instruments to play when you want to express yourself through music.

Having Discipline While in Practice

Filed under: Music — tkwriter @ 11:26 am

Learning the guitar does not happen overnight. It can be if you’re doing it properly. Learning the guitar doesn’t come after a day or even after a week. It took a lot of dedicated practice. I don’t mean practicing just a few random tabs and then leaving it all for the next day. That isn’t even practicing at all. Real practice involves trying to play as much as I could, learning the steps along the way. Each and every day, I would dedicate myself to practicing the fundamentals I have learned.

Thos practice sessions you make will be really enjoyable of course. It’s time off from having to work or study! But for those days that you just don’t feel like practicing the same chords you haven’t gotten the hang of since yesterday, that takes devotion. You need to have discipline.

Fundamentally, you have to remember how to practice and how much you practice.

Having at least an hour everyday might seem fun in the beginning, but you might start slacking off, so you have to just quicken your pace. If you really can’t then how about just 30 minutes daily? You don’t have to exert your hundred and ten percent just practicing though. This is only to allow you to get used to playing regularly. It would be ideal to set aside a small portion of your day to practice, nothing strictly formal or anything.

But when it comes to the quality of practicing, you might have to be aware of certain concerns. For example, if you’re learning a song, and you play it on repeat every single time, you don’t have to play it to a T. Challening yourself is important, which is why you should keep moving on. When you gain enough skill in playing different things, you can then go back to those songs. Be careful of not moving on too fast, though. Just because we said you don’t have to play it perfectly doesn’t mean you shouldn’t learn to play it well before moving on.

You could also try dividing your practices into smaller parts. You might want to put in more of your practice time into learning things you haven’t mastered. The rest of the time can be devoted to running through stuff you already know. Don’t get too confident when playing, because this might make you start slacking off. Do not over estimate your abilities until you have something concrete to show for them. Like being able to transition between chords and tabs seamlessly.

Doing the same things all the time does not equate to practice. Always employ discipline when it comes to challenging yourself and applying what you know. Don’t stray from your agenda, and keep at it until you know exactly what to do for each aspect of playing your guitar. You have to keep at this until you do not require references when you play. All of this will contribute to you becoming a great guitarist.

Things to Remember If You Are In Need of an Electric Guitar Amp

Filed under: Music — tkwriter @ 9:10 am

It will be hard to discern if your guitar is as great as you think it is. It all depends on how much you want to invest in your it. Generally speaking, only a few people know how to get real value for their money when they are buying their guitars and their accessories. The most important thing for me would be investing in a reliable guitar amp compared to buying just anything.

An amp can make or break a guitar sound. Which is why you should invest in a reliable amp. You should of course learn about the different types of amps before buying one.

You generally have four kinds of amps. You get different results from all these different types in terms of sound. First we have analogue amplifiers. Instead of pre and power amps, you have transistors. This makes your guitar sound a bit strong and brittle. The distortions are more distinctly known for the same type of tone, but the quality is what varies a lot. These are very sturdy in general, and do not require frequent replacement of parts. What’s even better is that these solid state amps are much cheaper compared to the other types of amps.

Let’s talk about tube amps now. Tube amps came before all the other variations of amps, which is also why these amps are based on its design. There are quite a few guitarists that depend on this kind of amp a lot, being the first type of amp made. Tube amps have a weightier tone as opposed to analogue amps. It makes it seem like the sound it amplifies is more natural. A plus for this amp is that you can get more power for the same amount of wattage. You also get options for channels when you want to separate your distortions and clean sounds. But what’s not so good about these is the fact that its tubes are made of glass, so you need to be careful. The tubes need maintenance and replacing from time to time.

Now, we also have digital amps to counter analogue amps today. Modeling amps or better known as digital amps are able to copy the effects that other amps make using some pre-programmed software. The only catch is its price. Digital amps that aren’t branded are relatively cheaper than their commercialized counterparts, but they still cost a hefty sum. However, investing in this type of amp usually gives you the benefit of being able to have different sound effects you can experiment with. The most expensive digital amps usually give you the best quality. You can’t tell which is the digital sound and which is the one its copying, it’s that good!

Now for the hybrid amp, it is basically a combination. The beauty of the hybrid amp is in its technology that combines the handiness of an analogue with the power of a tube amp. One of the most popular amps would be the Marshall Valvestate. The wholer sound will only cost you half as much.

Now that you’ve read about all the different kinds of amp, you should be able to choose which suits you and your guitar. When you are finally out buying your amp, don’t just go for the first thing you see. The wisest thing you can do would be to bring a guitar with you to test all the possible combinations of guitar types, amps and volume. Do you hear weird hums on low volumes? On the highest volume, does it still sound good? Are there any other inappropriate noises that shouldn’t be there except for the guitar’s? Remember that you are going to use this for the long term, so pick carefully.

You Can Learn Guitar Easy So You Can Be a Rocker

Filed under: Music — tkwriter @ 3:56 pm

To learn guitar easy, one only needs to follow a few simple steps. These baby steps will allow the most novice guitarists to start off on the right path of guitar super stardom.

It is important to choose where to take your guitar lessons very well as this may affect your future.

Shop for your own guitar before taking any lesson. Don’t buy yourself an inferior guitar. Invest in quality, and reap the rewards. Buying from a guitar company and retailer which has a consistent track record of quality is one big factor you would want to consider when you punch the numbers to see how much you will spend on your first guitar.
Cheap guitars may offer a lesser cost at the beginning, but the quality of your music may suffer in the long run. What I meant was, inexpensive guitars are made of less-than quality materials; you may have problems with non-aligned frets and strings. Be sure to buy quality instruments for superior performance. Investing in a quality guitar pays off because you can be assured of hours of strumming without encountering any problems.

Next on the list is learning how to strum effectively. Hold your fingers firmly on the fret, strum the strings on your right hand to produce that musical tune. But how do you strum correctly? Classical guitarists have a different way of strumming. They use their middle finger and index finger for the higher notes and for the lower notes, they use their thumb. Remember that if the note is the lowest, that note is also the fattest. It is known as the sixth string. What is known as the first string is the highest and the thinnest note.

Using a guitar pick is not an uncommon practice. Amateur guitarists are also taught how to use a pick. Learn how to handle a pick in two ways. Place it in between your index and thumb. Your grip on the pick will be strong when held this way. This happens because your other fingers get to be on the pick guard in a more extended position which translates to better stability when strumming. Another way is by making a fist and pressing the pick between your fingers and thumb.
