Obvious Online Backup Strategy

Filed under: Computers and Technology — tkwriter @ 10:35 am

We know your wondering why would you use the Internet as a backup method. Well, there’s a whole bunch of reasons. First, you can use the Internet to backup your data instead of dedicated hardware or software. A connection to the Internet is the only requirement.Second, you (and only you) can access your backups from anywhere you connect to the Internet. And with proper encryption and security, nobody else will know it’s even out there with your offline backup.

The Internet has thousands of pedabytes of disk space available, and there are several good services you can find that specialize in Internet backup.I’m paying around four dollars each month for over 30GB of data. Now I have used around 60% of my backup volume which leaves tons of space for future backups at a rate that’s more than affordable.

The first step is to make a determination as to which provider is best for you. Most providers that have free trials have much more expensive monthly fees than the ones that don’t.So with a little research you can join a site with superior features and an overall lower cost by avoiding free trials. In the end it’ll save you a lot of money. With all the comparison sites, online reviews, blogs, etc. it’s easy to make a good decision.

So now, you’ve decided which online backup provider you will use. Now you need to decide which files are crucial to you and that you need to backup. Providers that have software to make backups easy for you also tend to be the best Internet backup providers as well. and will seamlessly upload the backup files after they’ve been encrypted. As you have figured out by now, the easiest to use services are also generally the best ones out there. And the best providers will run identically on the common operating systems (Windows, Linux, and OSX).

The reason is they want you to use their service and if it’s too tough you’oll find an easier one to use. The market is highly competitive and services with lightweight features or only focused on Windows or MAC only, etc. generally arn’t stable nor reliable and whose future existence isn’t assured at all. So make sure that they support Windows, Linux, and MacIntosh.I they’re a quality provider they will.

So, now you have a good outline of what to look for with Internet backups, here’s some basic questions you need to ask.

Do they give you a software client that makes it easy for you?

Does their software provide all features on Linux OSX, and Windows?

Can you backup many computers with a single account?

What kind of Internet backup is it? How frequent are the backups?

You have other issues that are important to you.But by getting the answers to these basic questions will serve you well. And your backup to internet will keep your data protected.
