Have the Best Garage Sale in the Neighborhood

Filed under: General — tkwriter @ 5:07 am

If you’re thinking of holding a garage sale, keep it mind that your main concernis to sell out as many items as possible at the right price to garner the most profit possible. There are plenty of strategies to do this, without spending a lot of time, money and effort. It is vital that you talk to the right people as well and watch the inventory carefully. Here are tips.

1. Gathering the items. Look for all the present items in your house, especially in places like closets, the basement, the attic, the garage, the backyard and other cornerswhere stuff are most likely stocked and hidden for years. A garage sale is a great way to get rid of clutter and have enough money to purchase the right decorations and fixtures for your home.

Place all items in a singlearea and use this place to categorize everything. It will be to your advantage to arrange the items carefully according to type. You may place the Nautical table clocks in a container and label it properly. Other items should be organized well also, such as perishables, barely used goods and expensive or antique materials. You can command a higher price later on with the qualitygoods or set them in a special nook as the main attraction of your event.

2. Setting up the place. Assess the space where you are supposed to hold the garage sale. Make sure you have enough to accommodate the items you are about to sell. Set areas where people can easily navigate and find the right things they need. You can set one point to hold clothes only, another point to hold Atomic clocks and desk clocks only and another spot for cars and gadgets. Place signs aroundso that visitors can immediately move and avoid going back to the same spot, which can sometimes make your space too crowded.

Make sure you also place signs for the prices of the goods you are selling. One good idea I can recommend is to arrangeitems according to price. You can set a box or area where everything found there is sold for $5 only. Another space can be allocated for the ten-dollar items and so on. You should also be ready for individuals who want to haggle prices. You can include the allowance to the price so that you still reach your quota regardless of whether they bargainor not.

3. It pays to advertise. It is important that you market the sale very well ahead of time so that people can have a chance and set up a schedule to visit and buy your goods. You can improve the chances of selling out your Atomic clocks easily by putting advertisements on the newspapers, community bulletin boards and flyers. Let people know about your garage or yard sale at least a week before the big date. You may also include some catchyphotos and captions. Indicate the special and unique items that your sale will include, since these are great hooks that will keep people coming.
